Horse Learner is a website dedicated to horses and the people who love them. We write articles about horses and horse riding as well as horse riding holidays around the world.
Our Story
We are sisters and long-time horse fans. Both of us took up riding before rounding a decade and collectively, we have more than 30 years of experience with these majestic animals. One is a horse owner, the other a horse adventure traveler and we love it!
We created Horse Learner for the love of horses and share helpful information and insights for anyone who is also passionate about horses. Wherever you are on your horse journey, we hope you will enjoy Horse Learner.
The Horse Adventure Traveler
The seed of my horse obsession was planted in my early years when I started riding a cheeky little Shetland pony with a heart of gold. His name was Tornado. We quickly became besties and I still vividly remember the sound of him nickering softly at me when I came to the stables in the morning – it was the best sound! After a few years though, my feet were nearly dragging on the ground and it was sadly time to move on.
I have had the pleasure (sometimes questionable pleasure) of riding a large variety of horses over the years. From Nordlandshest, to difference cold blood horses and a beautiful Lippizan (that my sister and I shared for a while). It was with her I started dipping my toes in jumping and we even made it to a few local competitions.
I have also traveled quite extensively and had some extraordinary adventures on horseback in New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, France, Switzerland, and Norway. Whenever I can combine my two loves – travel and horses – I jump at the opportunity and you can read about some of my experiences, reflections around horseriding holidays and recommendations on this blog.
The Horse Owner and Competitive Rider
My riding career started at a very young age and I spent pretty much every free moment at the stables. I rode regularly throughout my school years, among others on this beautiful Lipizzan horse named Alga. This was when the dressage seed was planted in me and I picked things back up after a period of focusing on studies and work.
I am now the proud owner of a beautiful Danish Warmblood Mare and have become a proper horse mom! We train and compete on a regular basis, and I love how every day and every event is a new learning experience!
She has taught me tons and I hope I have passed on a few tricks to her as well. I am excited for our future!
