Our Favorite Riding Gloves
Riding gloves is one of those small things that can make a big difference. Depending on the type of riding you do and the horse you ride, your hands and fingers can be exposed to quite a lot of strain and friction from the reins. Most equestrians are familiar with the classic blister between the little and ring finger and even if your horse has a super sensitive mouth, gloves can still protect your hands from dirt, cold temperatures, and sun exposure.
It’s a preference thing really and there are many good gloves on the market. I bought the Roeckl Roeck-Grip Unisex Gloves (available on Amazon) about a year ago and loved them so much I got another two pairs in different colors. Suffice to say, I won’t be needing new riding gloves for a while!
The Roeckl gloves are soft, comfortable and have a great grip. They are breathable so the hands stay relatively dry during a sweaty riding session and I personally love the way they look – classic, but with a hint of elegance! Some say they think they look a bit bulky. I would disagree with that, but in any case, they are super supple and flexible giving great tactility for holding the reins and communicating with my horse’s mouth. I machine wash them regularly and they have kept really well.
They come in a range of different colors and sizes so make sure you get the best fit and style for you!
